The services provided by speech therapists encompass a range of areas. They regularly consult with classroom teachers to provide suggestions and interventions for students with speech or language concerns. When more intensive services are necessary, they are involved in the evaluation process and provide recommendations to families and staff as well as intervention service for the student. Students who qualify for speech and/or language services work with the therapist in small group or one-on-one settings to attain skills and build confidence in communication skills, thus improving overall achievement in school.
