In coordination with the Lake County Emergency Management Agency, The Wickliffe City Schools District has developed plans to assist those directly affected by an emergency at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. Protective actions, including but not limited to evacuation, may be necessary for persons within approximately ten miles of the Perry Plant. Our entire school district is located outside this area; therefore, no Wickliffe City School student or staff would be evacuated.

Our role during an emergency at the Perry Plant is one of assistance in the unlikely event of an emergency at the Perry Plant. Your child’s school schedule may be adjusted to make district resources such as buses available for those affected. You would be notified through normal school district procedures of any activity adjustments. There would be no early dismissal of Wickliffe City Schools in order to provide needed assistance.

The likelihood of a real emergency is very small, but we still want to be prepared. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation should there be any interruption in school services to help those in such an extraordinary situation.
