Health Screenings

HEALTH SCREENINGS

VISION

Vision disorders are a significant health problem. Early identification, diagnosis and correction of vision disorders are essential in providing students a better opportunity to develop educationally, socially and emotionally.

Vision screenings will be done annually on the following students:

Preschool, Kindergarten, First, Third, Fifth, Seventh, Ninth, and Eleventh

HEARING

Hearing screening is an effective method of identifying students at risk for hearing loss.

The following school children shall be screened annually:

Preschool, Kindergarten, First, Third, Fifth, Ninth, and Eleventh

In addition: The following students shall be screened annually for vision and hearing:

New to district

Teacher Referral

Parent Referral

Students referred within the past year with no documented follow up

Special Note:  Children in special education classes shall be screened at the ages that correspond to the grade levels required for all students. If a student cannot be screened, he/she will be referred for a complete medical/audiology evaluation.
