Superintendent's Update

From Superintendent Chokshi's Desk:

Spring sports season is about to get underway!  I want to take a moment to ensure that our school community understands what happened with spring sports this year...

When the district announced its transition to a full-cost, pay-to-participate model for extracurriculars and athletics, we expected fees for spring sports families that exceeded $1,000 per student athlete.

This is a huge burden for families, and especially hard for our seniors in their final season as Blue Devils. Principal Gallo and I started making calls.  We reached out to alumni and community partners, and one of those conversations led us to James Luthardt, a 2004 Wickliffe graduate who has built a successful career as an entrepreneur and businessman.

James stepped up with extraordinary generosity, covering the FULL COST of all spring sports programs this season for both middle school and high school student-athletes. Because of James, every Blue Devil who wants to compete this Spring will be able to.

His generous one-time donation is not something we can count on going forward... but we are deeply grateful for his generosity and commitment to his alma mater.

Before you go… a few important dates. Campus is closed Thursday, April 3rd through Monday, April 6 due to Easter.  Early voting for the May levy starts on Tuesday, April 7.  Lastly, my first State of the Schools address is on Monday, April 28 at the Wickliffe Community Center.

Thank you for your continued partnership, and happy Easter to all who celebrate!
