To provide academic and career planning for students to enable them to be best prepared for college or career when they graduate from high school.
Overview
The Ten Year Plan is a career and workforce development program that all Wickliffe City Schools students participate in beginning in the 4th grade. The students engage in college and career planning as an intentional process of setting and achieving goals as part of a larger K-12 college and career readiness curriculum. The purpose is to provide academic and career planning for students to enable them to be best prepared for college or career when they graduate from high school. Students participate in a wide range of programming including: regular individual meetings with his/her school counselor to build and/or modify his/her plan, site visits, interactions with professionals in a wide variety of careers, job shadowing experiences, and internships.

NextWork
NextWork’s mission is to provide quality job opportunities to its students by providing exposure, training, and life skills required to be successful in a manufacturing environment while helping to sustain and expand manufacturing in Lake & Geauga Counties.
The responsibilities of the central clearinghouse
- Organize and coordinate all programming
- Create a database of companies and the level of their participation.
- Work with school districts in coordinating student and staff programs.
- Develop programs for students, staff, and parents
- Market the programs
- Work with other regions to expand programming
The Think Manufacturing Expo will continue as a high-profile event.
- This event rotates to different high schools in the area.
Site Visits (Students, K-12 Staff)
- Broad experience
- Focus on awareness
- Determine expectations and work with the company to ensure expectations are met
- Each school district and company needs to have a point person to lead all communication
- Agendas will be created to organize and structure the visits.
Professional Speakers Series (Students, K-12 Staff)
- Create a database of speakers
- Student programs may include:
- Individual speakers for large and small groups
- Virtual programming

- Expectations for speakers will be shared.
Job Shadowing (Students)

- MAGNET Early College/Early Career program
Special Programs for Parents/Adults
- Create an informational program for parents/adults at the Manufacturing Expo to share employment information
- Open businesses for visits for parents and adults
- The school districts will promote and market events for parents/adults.
